Have you or a loved one been injured by a car wreck in North Augusta? Check out these 4 car accident tips and give our office a call.
1. Benefits of Uninsured Motorist Coverage
About three times a year, we have clients get badly damaged in car wrecks where the other driver does not have insurance. About 25 times a year we have clients badly damaged where the other insurance is not enough insurance to compensate our clients for their damages. I’ll tell you what I tell my car wreck clients: talk to your agent about buying uninsured motorist coverage and underinsured motorist coverage. Buy excess uninsured motorist coverage and underinsured motorist coverage. It does not cost very much, but it will protect you and your family if you’re badly injured in a car wreck involving someone that has no insurance or does not have enough insurance. If you have any automobile insurance questions, give us a call. We’d be happy to help.
2. Car Accident Recorded Statement
I had a call from a client last week who was involved in a car wreck on Whiskey Road in Aiken, South Carolina. The client told me that the at-fault insurance adjuster from State Farm was calling her and asking her to give a recorded statement. She asked me if she should give the recorded statement. I told the client, no, do not give the recorded statement. Insurance companies are trained to get positive information to help the insurance company’s case and devalue her case. I informed the client that she needed to consult with an attorney and to not give a statement to an insurance adjuster.

3. Selecting a Car Accident Lawyer
I had a nice couple from North Augusta, South Carolina, come to my office last week and ask me the question, “How do we find the best car accident attorney for our South Carolina case?” If you’re reading, you may have the same question. I’ll share with you what I shared with my clients last week. I think it’s important to meet with the potential attorney and ask the attorney questions. Ask the attorney about his experience with car wrecks. Are car wrecks a core focus of his practice? Does he have the resources to hire experts for accident reconstruction issues and potential medical specialists? Does this attorney try cases, and do insurance companies take this attorney more serious as a result of these trials? Does this attorney conduct focus groups, and have juries consider issues of the case before going to trial?
Another tip that I shared with this couple was to do online research of the potential attorney. Look at client reviews. Look at Facebook. Look at Google review, Avvo reviews. Look at lawyer reviews of the potential attorney, as well. Other lawyers rate attorneys in Super Lawyers, Martindale-Hubble, and 100 Best Lawyers in America. Other lawyers rate lawyers in a service called 100 High Stakes Litigators, too. See what other lawyers are saying about this lawyer. Is he respected by his peers?
4. Who Pays Your Medical Bills
I met with a nice lady last week from Jackson, South Carolina. She was involved in a bad car wreck, and she was worried about who would pay her medical bills while her case was developed. Her medical bills were from Augusta University, and she was taken by ambulance after this horrible car wreck to Augusta University and stayed in the hospital for four days. If you’re reading this, you may have the same question. I’ll share with you what I shared with my client.
We have a good relationship with all the hospitals in the area, and we can write the hospitals and ask them to delay collection procedures while we try to resolve the case. We also have doctors that will treat clients while they get better. We have a good relationship with many doctors that will treat clients. The insurance company for the driver who caused the wreck will not pay for the medical treatment until the case is over, so clients need lawyers that have experience dealing with medical professionals to keep the bill collection process away and help them get the treatment needed.
